Is it possible to surgically implant gemstones in your skin, or how can u get them to stay for long time?

I was just wondering if it was possible to surgically implant gemstones in your skin, or if there is a way to attach gemstones to your skin where they would stay on your skin for a long period of time/permanent? Any suggestions would help. if anyone knows any procedures to do this or processes. thanks
