Atheist do we really have a common ancestor?

just to the question of being an ancestor of the apes........ we evolved from a common ancestor but not directly from apes. Look at the evolutionary tree. It will help. Apes continued to evolve to where they are now. For whatever reason we stopped at our present point. I personally think we have a little ways to go to be better prepared for life. We don't need the strength of the great apes as we have learned to protect ourselves in other ways: guns and knives and tazers. (LOL)
