Alberto Giacometti - what did he use for his models?

hi there. i studied Alberto Giacometti at school when i was younger. i made a model using modroc bandages, and pianted it with a sort of copper like bronze colour and then dusted some sort of green powder over it to give it an 'old metal' look. i can remember doign it clear as day, but can't remember what the paints were. any ideas what it could be, or any similar ideas? cheers
