Can institutions of religions/athiesm be defined as evil or are the mobs with common barbaric goals evil?

Humanity is by its nature greedy, power hungry, bigoted and tends toward evil doings. Religion or any type of "belief" is just a tool used by the human race to serve those ends. The root cause of the evil in this world is not religion or belief structure, but the barbaric tendencies of humanity itself. So whatever you are, whatever belief you have, its only yourself you have to blame for the bad things you do, not God, the devil, Allah, or no one or whoever or whatever.
